Filipe de Matos Rocha holds a Master’s degree from the Graduate Program in Music at UFRJ. His dissertation, developed in the research line “Poetics of Musical Creation”, under the guidance of prof. Pauxy Gentil-Nunes and within the MusMat Research Group, focused on the poetics and musical structuring of Jongo da Serrinha, establishing a Jongo classification in three types, developed in successive historical phases: Traditional Jongo, Jongo-Song and Jongo-Plot.
It is on this subject that Filipe will be paneling at the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM) Congress. The event takes place from 11-17 July 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand, at Chulalongkorn University, and brings together researchers from around the world for academic presentations, music and dance workshops, concerts, exhibitions and excursions.
ICTM is a non-governmental organization that has a formal advisory relationship with UNESCO and promotes research, safeguarding, documentation and sustainability of music, dance and performance arts taking into account the diversity of cultural practices and traditions of the present, past and academics around the world.
